A one-gram bar is easy to understand physically: it contains one gram of fine gold. The harder question is whether the premium and resale spread make sense for your purpose.
Why buyers consider one gram
A gram bar can provide tangible ownership without committing to a full troy ounce. It can also be given as a gift or accumulated gradually. The trade-off is that minting, packaging and dealer handling costs are spread across very little metal.
Premium math matters more at small sizes
Always calculate the percentage premium over the underlying metal value. A modest dollar markup can become a large percentage on a tiny bar. Compare the dealer’s current buyback price too.
Packaging and verification
Many minted gram bars are sold in assay packaging. Keep packaging intact when practical, record the purchase documentation and avoid buying an unfamiliar bar solely because it looks impressive.
Dealer fit
Money Metals, Bullion.com and Silver Gold Bull commonly list gram-scale products. Kitco sells small bars as well, but its currently posted $5,000 minimum for physical bullion orders makes it a poor fit for a single tiny order.
